Can I drink hot chocolate or other sweet beverages on Atkins diet? from Tania Kharkevich
Hello everybody, my name is Larry, and I am 26. I am writing here because I want to get some of your help with Atkins diet – actually, I have just started it but I need some information about this from specialists – it is connected with sweets. So, can I drink hot dark chocolate while I am on Atkins diet?
If yes, then how much per day? Do I have to buy special hot chocolate in the shop? Can I cook it by myself at home? What ingredients of hot chocolate, latte or moccini should I exclude? What sweet beverages are allowed to drink during the Atkins diet? How many calories, fats and carbs do these hot liquids have? What amount of them can I drink per week?
Then pass me please some recipes that won’t harm my diet and body. With what can I replace hot chocolate if needed? Thanks for your help!
Dear Lorry, you certainly can drink hot chocolate on the Atkins diet. Moreover, I will share some special Mexican recipe, it`s incredibly tasty.
240 ml of heavy cream, 235 ml of water, 5-6 tablespoons of cocoa powder, half teaspoon of vanilla extract, half teaspoon of almond extract, a teaspoon of your sugar substitute and a teaspoon of cinnamon. Sounds good? I like to make it more extreme and add a bit of red hot chilly pepper, but it`s more appropriate during cold winter evenings at the fireplace. I have my favorite copper saucepan for fixing the chocolate. Put all the ingredients into it and stir a bit, keep on the medium flame until the mixture is about to boil. No boiling needed here. Just turn off the heat and wait a couple of minutes more. Your special diet friendly Mexican hot chocolate is ready to serve. Enjoy!
